Fort Worth - Top 5 things to do with Kids

Visit the Fort Worth Stock Yards

This is THE Fort Worth Experience and an absolute MUST! Spend a day, or two, exploring the variety of shops, restaurants, and bars. Whatever you do, be sure to visit The Cowtown Colliseum where you can see a live rodeo! Head over to The General Store where you will find souvenirs for the whole family. Check out the museum dedicated entirely to John Wayne himself.  And when your hungry, hit the infamous Joe T. Garcias for authentic Mexican cuisine complete with margaritas and the most expansive and lush patio around!

Fort Worth Zoo

This is one of my favorite zoos! The paths are beautifully designed and really immerse you in the experience. Not only do they guide you through the zoo, but they also provide amazing vantage points to see the animals. The animal enclosures are so well done, many with waterfalls, and lush landscape, they look like any animal’s dream! The variety of animals was vast, with an entire area dedicated to Texan locals! Grab some lunch near the MOLA (museum of living art) and watch the gators, fish, and turtles swim while you eat!

Sundance Square

Right in the heart of the city sits Sundance Square, home to the iconic disco cowboy hat. Here you will find expansive hardscape, bring suits for the kids to run in the fountains, catch a live performance on the stage, check out the gardens, shop or grab a bite to eat. Yolk is great for breakfast, grab an ice cream at MELT or a bite to eat on the rooftop at Reata!

Bolder Adventure Park

If you love adventure, you are in for a real treat! An indoor park (just outside of Fort Worth) perfect for super-hot Texas weather, with no shortage of activities. Most impressive was the rock climbing, this was geared towards teens/adults, and super challenging! The middle kids, think 8-10 had a ball on the ropes course complete with ziplines! Some other options included bumper cars, tubing, a nerf area, arcade and tons of climbers for all ages! There was literally something for every age here, great for large groups of varying ages!

Water Gardens

This series of water features is in downtown Fort Worth and is really an immersive experience. You can walk right through the water in some of them. You will see a variety of falls, pools and reflecting ponds you will want to jump right in in that Texas heat. But beware, there is no swimming here. It is a walk through only experience.
